The Daktronics Experience

Everyone is used to seeing the social posts and content shown on the displays during a game, but there’s a lot of work behind the scenes to coordinate and create those digital messages. Justin and Matt sat down with David Bradley and Selena Castillo to hear all about the process and work going on behind the scenes at Duke University for men’s and women’s basketball.

Cameron Indoor Stadium, one of the nation’s best college basketball venues, just received a technology upgrade on campus at Duke University. To hear about the project and how it integrates into the overall game-day experience, Justin and Matt sat down with Bob Weiseman and Zac Powell. They share all the details and other interesting uses of the technology now that it’s in place.

When it comes to college football, Bowl Games are a BIG deal! This year, there’s a brand new 12-team playoff as well. With 43 total games taking place, many venues are using Daktronics products and services to support the action on the field. To hear how our team prepares and supports our customers during this time, Justin and Matt are joined by David Reynhout, Daktronics Customer Success Specialist. He shares the total number of games and venues we’re preparing for this busy bowl season.

With a special edition podcast from our Women In Sports Online Event, Christina Hundley joins us. She shares her experiences from 10 years as an athletic director and as the president of the Arizona Community College Athletics Conference (ACCAC). Currently the athletic director at Paradise Valley Community College, she also shares a focus on women in sports administration and the impact they can have on their community.

In this episode, we sit down with Cody Smithies, a former student at Payette High School. Cody shares his incredible journey from starting Floww Photography in 7th grade to expanding it into Floww Media, an umbrella company covering sports production and media. He dives into his hands-on experience with graphic design and event production at Payette High School, where he was instrumental in creating game-day graphics and managing media for school sports events. Cody also offers valuable advice for students interested in media and event production.

Sean Miller – Owner and Director of Orion Creative Services, shares his path into live event production, from his early career experiences to his current work. He talks about his role with Brentford Football Club and gives an inside look at what happens behind the scenes on game day, including the coordination and challenges that make each event run smoothly. Whether you’re interested in football or curious about the logistics of live event production, Sean provides practical insights and real-world examples from his time in the industry.

He shares his history of making digital content, how the Creative Services team works with these large events to create content on the fly and much more.

When it comes to installing an LED video display on the side of a mountain for ski slopes, Auviso and Daktronics come together to find a solution. To hear about this project and the use of helicopters to complete the installation, Justin and Matt sat down with Martin Elmiger and Markus Bucher with Auviso at the Daktronics International Partner Conference in Madrid. They also shared the uses of this display and whether they see it as a trend for future projects.
